- Get Java for your Mac Download Java for OS X directly from Oracle. Get the latest version If an app or webpage you want to use asks you to install Java software, you can download the current version of Java for OS X directly from Oracle's website.
- I have an application that uses a.jnlp file which since updating OS X yesterday (Java update included) now opens the file in Dashcode instead of using Java Webstart. I usually launch the app using a shortcut saved to my desktop (webstart.jnlp) which OS X has always launched just fine.
- For Mac OSX; For GNU/Linux & POSIX. Download and run the installer ( gpg signature; keyring). Try the Java Web Start installer. Download Freenet for GNU.
- The operating system should recognize the files and launch the installer automatically. If the installer doesn’t start on its own: Double click on the installation file jPDFViewer-macos.dmg to mount the disk image, then double click on the mounted image. Finally double click on the installer. The installer requires Mac OS X 10.1 or later.

- After downloading, the installer should launch automatically and create an icon on the desktop.
- The installer is a standard PackageMaker installer packaged inside a disk image. The operating system should recognize the files and launch the installer automatically.

Finally double click on the installer.
